The Photography Committee shall have the following objectives:
- To establish policy and procedure in terms of the use of the RAI photographic collection.
- To foster links and communication between anthropologists (academics, researchers, students) in the field of photography studies within the UK and overseas.
- To promote an innovative research agenda that furthers the anthropological study of photography.
- To identify common areas of interest that can be developed into a range of outputs, activities and external links e.g. publications, conferences, workshops, funding bids to relevant organizations and agencies.
- To promote and develop empirical research and teaching in the study of photography and anthropology.
- To foster an international network of scholars and practitioners with a broad interest in anthropology and photography, who may serve as Corresponding Members of the Committee.
- To increase engagement in the RAI photographic collection through organizing or facilitating exhibitions and public events and the dissemination of collections online.
- To closely collaborate with other Committees as appropriate.
- The Committee is committed to diverse representation from students and early career researchers through to more senior academics. Committee membership will also include practitioners in photography and museums/collections as well as representing our global diversity of anthropology and cultural stakeholders.
