Anthropology Communicates on Managing Universities

With

Prof Andrea Cornwall (SOAS)
Prof Cris Shore (Goldsmiths, University of London)

chaired by Prof Emma Crewe (SOAS, University of London)

What does a disciplinary background in anthropology bring to the highest levels of university administration? How can an understanding of culture and being attentive to silences, assist when managing relationships, working across academic disciplines and strategizing for uncertain futures?
The latest in the Anthropology Communicates webinar series ventures inside ‘the beast of bureaucracy’ to consider leadership, management and governance in the UK higher education sector. Professor Andrea Cornwall (SOAS) joins Professor Cris Shore (Goldsmiths) and Professor Emma Crewe (SOAS) in discussion. Drawing from their own experiences they ask why more anthropologists have not reached the highest levels of university administration and what might be gained if they did.
