The Research Committee convenes twice a year to coordinate the research strategy of the RAI. A key aspect of this mission is to help the RAI identify and leverage external funding opportunities to support the activities of the Institute and develop new research programs and partnerships. The Committee also makes recommendations to the Director regarding the allocation of funding and resources for anthropological research within the RAI – helping to ensure that these are distributed equitably and effectively where they are needed.

In addition, the Committee assists the Director in planning the program of activities of the RAI and oversees its implementation, actively promoting a culture of interdisciplinary collaboration and public access to research. The Research Committee has, for instance, been involved in the preparation of the Country Days and the publication of the History of the RAI.
