Max Carocci is Adjunct Professor of Visual Arts and Art History at Richmond the American University in London. He writes and researches a number of topics at the intersection of art and anthropology. Max has served as consultant and curator for the British Museum, the Royal Academy of Arts, and for numerous museums, learned institutions, and private galleries in the UK and abroad among which the Venice Biennale, and the Weltkulturen Museum in Frankfurt. Currently he is working on a book project on mutual representation of Native North Americans and Europeans before the age of photography. His new co-edited book with Stephanie Pratt Art, Observation and an Anthropology of Illustration will be published by Bloomsbury in 2022.
