Kathleen (Kathy) Rettie resides in Banff, Alberta, Canada.  For 33 years she was employed by Parks Canada, the federal agency responsible for management of Canada’s national parks.  Most recently, she conducted the social science research for western Canada’s mountain parks.  Kathy focuses on the environment, nature and culture, and human aspects of protected areas through her teaching, applied research, undergraduate field schools, post-graduate supervision and publications.   She completed her PhD in social anthropology at St. Andrews University (Scotland) and is currently an adjunct at the University of Calgary and at Mount Royal University (Calgary).
