Arabia leads to Arab settlement and spread of Islam; H.A.R. Gibb cannot decipher writing on photographs but thinks it is Swahili; inscriptions on frieze probably from the Quran; disagrees on age as mosque is 9th century and Kenyan tombs less old; no authority on Arabic epigraphy so feels not the most competent to deal with Kenyan archaeology and suggests Braunholtz and Gibb as being more valuable; could not go till 1931 and a student helper would be difficult to find; pleased to help. 4 pp. 17.5 x 13.5 cm.
