Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer in Anthropology.

Applicants should have a Ph.D in social or cultural Anthropology and be able to demonstrate a record of research in this area.

Ideally the applicant will have expertise in one or more of the following: kinship and family, anthropological theory, economic anthropology and the anthropology of religion but applicants with other specialisations will be considered. The geographical field of study is open although field experience in New Zealand, Australasia or the Pacific is desirable.

The successful applicant will be capable of creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment and will be required to teach at all undergraduate levels, and supervise M.A. and Ph.D students.

Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Goettingen, Germany

Postdoctoral fellows

The Department for the Study of Religious Diversity at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen is seeking Postdoctoral fellows to work in two research programs, comparative study of urban religious aspirations and globalization of religious networks (see www.mmg.mpg.de). Excellent applications outside of these programs may also be considered.

Duration of position: one or two years (can be extended)

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Social Sciences, Religious Studies, or Asian Studies

Salary and benefits are according to the German public service payscale (TVÖD Bund) or in the form of stipends.

ANTHROPOLOGY TODAY

Would you like to help the editorial team turn out an even better product? Fom time to time we need volunteers.

* Copy-editing support: to provide occasional help with copy editing in case of overflow situations. Essential: copy-editing experience and excellent language skills. --- > NEEDED

* Web development: help improve the ANTHROPOLOGY TODAY pages (up to two days a month). We currently use Dreamweaver. ---> NEEDED

* Calendar and news researcher: help research, write and edit the calendar and news columns (up to two days a month). ---> NEEDED

* Photo researcher: help find/research suitable illustrations to accompany features for publication, and secure reproduction rights (up to one day a month). ---> NEEDED

Essential: proven experience in anthropological research beyond B.A. degree and an interest in publishing. Initially at least, the ability to pay regular visits to South London, the site of production, at critical stages of the editorial and production cycle.

Desirable: some prior experience in print and/or web publishing and excellent command of English.
