The aim of the Fund is to help researchers to undertake projects in biological anthropology. Since the resources of the Fund are slender, awards must necessarily be small and should not be thought of as in any way comparable to the ESRC or other major research grants. The maximum is £1,000.

Far more applications are made to the Fund than it can support. The Trustees are therefore dependent to a considerable extent upon the opinions of the referees in their difficult task of selection. They will be most grateful for a full and frank assessment of the applicant; in particular they would appreciate comments, where relevant, on the following.

1. organisational ability of the applicant

2. feasibility of the project, including its timing

3. your opinion as to whether the applicant can gain the information required from the local population concerned

4. reliability of the applicant to see through the project and write a full report on its completion

Please return your assessment to the applicant in an envelope, sign it at the back, and seal over it with transparent tape. Please do so in good time for them to submit their application before the closing date of 31st March.
