Volunteers and Interns
If you are interested in getting involved with the Royal Anthropological Institute's activities we would be interested in hearing from you.
The RAI takes on volunteers and interns from time to time when there is a project that is suitable. Volunteers are often needed to help with the RAI's events. Interns work at the RAI's offices for periods of a couple of weeks to several months. In the past internship projects have included developing the image database, research for educational materials and working with the film collection.
For complete details please see our Volunteer and Intern Policy.
If you are interested in being a volunteer or intern please email your C.V. and a cover letter with details of the time frame that you would be available, including the number of days per week, and any preferences for the area you would like to work in to the Office Manager. Your details will then be circulated to the departments to see if there is a suitable project.
Specific Opportunities
Anthropology in the World Conference
The RAI is recruiting a team of 20-25 volunteers to help administer the conference and ensure its success. This is a great opportunity for anthropology students or anyone who is passionate about the subject to meet practitioners, make new networks, and find out about careers.
Volunteers will work in a rota system with one to two shifts per day, and be responsible for various tasks including: registration, setting up rooms and stalls, monitoring exhibitions, helping participants and dealing with additional tasks as they arise.
We are looking for enthusiastic people age 18 and above, who enjoy working with others and are willing to dedicate their time for the duration of the conference.
In return for your assistance, we offer all volunteers free registration including access to all the panels and workshops, conference materials and refreshments as well as an RAI T-shirt and thank-you dinner.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please email your CV to Nafisa Fera at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 20 April 2012. Interviews will be held in London at the RAI in early May.
